DOWNTOWN, SAGINAW (c) Copyright 2007 by Earl F. Hubbard Jr.
(from A NEW ROAD/A YELLOW BUS BOOK of PEACE & LOVE coming VERY SOON!)
Today we gave a concert,
in Downtown, Saginaw,
Lily played a banjo.
Cara played guitar.
Dionte banged a drum,
Lilya blew a horn,
Vinny played the sax,
as the band played on.
Mar's Bar played the flute,
Fiona played Kazoo,
Dillon played a harp,
after kissing Suzy Q.
Mr. Howard played a fiddle,
while Lilya did her jig,
And everybody snorted,
like a Cincinnati Pig.
Sunshine Girl was grooving,
As she shook her tambourine,
I'm here to tell you Brothers,
She could REALLY shake that thing!
Michelle was a singer,
with the scruffy Fisher Cat,
who looked like Grizzly Adams,
in his Beaver Hat.
That's where we met JoAnna,
who asked to join our band,
who was the finest singer,
in all of Michigan.
The British call her Jo,
The Americans - JoAnne,
She was shopping with her daughter,
in a purple, Hippy Van.
Now she's on our bus,
Singing songs of peace,
Singing songs of love,
Of gypsies, tramps, and thieves.
Me? I played my twelve string,
Pyper played sitar,
while Dionte banged his drums,
just like Ringo Starr -
singing SAGINAW, MICHIGAN,
which is a catchy tune
while the rocking sun,
swung with Mr. Moon.
and
Saffron danced with fishermen,
as graceful as a dove,
on a day in Michigan,
filled with peace and love.

Hey i've always fancied having a go on the old banjo so this was my chance to lay down my guitar and give it a go. This sounds like a very merry and noisy band we've got here. If music is the food of love then we should all have our appetites satisfied with this little jaunt. I'd forgotten quite how many people were on the bus with us but it seems we have quite a few and more to come
