Twenty-four years ago
you gave me the name of ‘Gift of God’ -
a name so many do have, but
to you I was your special one.
Twenty-four years ago
your heart extended your womb,
as you lifted me to your warmth
echoing vibrations as your treasured one.
Twenty-four years ago
your nearness made my face smile,
and always I knew that your love
would last for me into eternity.
Twenty-four years ago
on journey’s treasured love,
there were traces of human ways,
but you held fast that I was a ‘Gift of God’
Twenty-four years ago
let us never forget that from you
sprang the ‘Gift of God’ – the Matthew,
and know beyond doubt that this I truly am.
Author notes

Excellent
What a touching poem for the picture. Best of luck in the contest.

This is such a sore point,
What a beautiful child, yes, i agree with your touching words that our children are a gift from God.
It breaks ones heart when sometimes he takes this gift back again. But he also leaves us the love we shared with them and the memories, i think these could be classed as gifts also.
I hope you win this contest, your heart is always in the right place Fran.

The title says it all,our children are gifts from God,though the umbilical cord is cut there is,for eternity,a bond between Mother and child in life as there is death, what greater thing may we create than flesh and blood that grew within the smallest of rooms within the building of the self, the womb? To lose a child is to know the pain that no painkiller on earth may relieve and we walk with them inside us in heartfelt memory...

Gift Of God
Oh yes he was and is so truly a gift of God to my life. What a lovely write. I miss him so, but as you said Twenty Four years ago your nearness made my face smile, and always I knew that your love would last for me into eternity. So rich with love. Thank you my dear peot for your sensitivity and walking this journey with us. Thank you for entering the contest and wishing you the best in the finalists. Blessings Kelle Marie, stavykm
