I'm supposed to write a poem
About how much I appreciate
The things that you have done
To help me when I've worried
And been feeling lost and alone
I'm supposed to write a poem
To thank you for your kindness
And for the inspiration you have
Given me when I have been afraid
And feeling small and ignored
I'm supposed to write a poem
About how great you make me feel
About how your giving heart
Is always open and true
And willing to let me in
I'm supposed to write this poem
But the words won't come out right
Gratitude is something I always feel
But I never say out loud
For your presence always gives something to me
And I can not thank you enough
