Christmas Wishes

Christmas Wishes

We are the children in jammies for bed
Wanting our daddies so bad.
Visions of happy days dance in our heads;
Cuddles and kisses we’ve had.
We don’t understand where our fathers have gone;
Don’t know the meaning of war.
What we do know is this longing goes on.
Deep down inside we’re so sore.
Never mind puppy dogs, race cars and such,
Barbie dolls, toy trains and track.
If you care anything for us then please
Just let our fathers come back.

Author notes

This isn't what I was hoping to write, but every time I sat down to write something like this, only stronger got in the way. With this done maybe I can write something lighter.

Please tell me what you think

    Excellent Writing

    This is better than something lighter would be (I think).

    this was a sad poem. I did ask for no sad poems. I totally know what it is like to only be able to think of depressing things though. Please feel free to enter a happy poem or 2, but I'll have to deleat this as it doesen't really fit with what I am looking for.
