It's eating itself to survive

And nope, I'm not cold
I'm past that where I think
I just might die
Or my fingers, will at any minute,
Turn purple and fall off

And it's true
I'm smiling through all
The hunger and the pain
To hide how afraid I am of you
And to make it seem
That I'm not utterly
Miserable out here
