who needs the attention
the noise from fame frustrates
and bogs down
let's look realistically
those who are famous
are in it for the cash
sure there's passion
an unbridled wherewithal of resources
and a crib the size of the white house
butlers
chauffeurs
glamor
glitz
and a thousand other amenities
but who needs it when the day has settled into night
and loneliness taps on frosted window
as the stars melt into sleep
next to a headless pillow
that somehow got stained with crystalized tears
section me off a slice of the quiet pie
no one even suspects I am here
there is no desire in me for fanfare
or a recognizable face
no need for excessive wads of money
in silver-lined pockets
I would much rather see poverty
and hunger's embrace than the poparatzi
camera's flash leaving me blind in both eyes
is not my idea of success
give a pen and a napkin
where my being infamous can create
lend words to me from the bank of knowledge
aesthetics, art, as in literature
and I am wealthy beyond fathoming
I sit in my corner and scribe
there is no need for applause or an audience
just leave me to my scribblings
fame can take a hike around the world and back
my penniless desires will remain the same

Money's not evil, the love of it is the root.
And it's not what you buy that brings you joy.
It's the good that you do.
Being blessed with it never bought peace to my heart.
Oh no... Not like hip hop or that spoken word art.
Believe me,
scribbling thoughts in the middle of the day
is rewarding if you have a lot to say
because there's nothing better
than removing the weight of the world from your chest.
And when it's all said and done,
you'll more than likely find that peace
when you lay down to rest.

Oh... Loved the flow. Spoken word?

reminds me of Gibhran something about life being so much more when full of passion for things, so good to have an idea of what is really important; so wonderful to feel compassion for the world around you... wonderful poetry here and a message for everyone...PK

I generally dislike poetry with social morals hidden in it, but this one was just damn amusing to me. Makes me want to be rich, even despite all the negative points involved. Yeah... I'm not one of those have-to-write-because-the-internal-poet-demands it.... I'm more one of those write-when-i'm-bored poets. lol. But, this wasn't boring, not by a long shot. I really liked it.

This is fantastic!
I have often wondered about
the dreams of those who have everything.
what is left to dream?? and if not
for a dream what hope have they for tomorrow..
"just leave me to my scribblings
fame can take a hike around the world and back
my penniless desires will remain the same"
Outstanding!!!!
