I once saw a film on the telly
On the poet called Percy Bysshe Shelley
He drowned in a boat
That didn't quite float
And his poems were not all that smelly!
Author notes
Percy Bysshe Shelley
A much better poet than boat designer!

Thanks for the entry, it was a welcome addition to the contest.
I liked the quirky humour in your offering.
PBS was the only one to get picked twice.

It's not a real limerick without a quirky end! Glad you enjoyed it, I wrote about 10 for various old poets but haven't polished the others enough to post yet.

this made me laugh - thanks so much for your entry. The image we have on Oldpoetry makes Shelley look rather frail - maybe that's why he wasn't so good at building boats.
