The birds were soaring in the sky
As the large wooden cart went by
The dirt was displaced from the road
As the big ugly eagle crowed.
The day was calm, spirits were high
The birds were soaring in the sky
The farm was peaceful as can be
As blue jays chirped a melody.
But then there came sudden unrest
As the cow was shot in the chest
The birds were soaring in the sky
They dispersed, shrieked a mournful cry.
The war had arrived at long last
Just as they sat down for breakfast
They knew it would not end until
The birds were soaring in the sky.
