There was once a young poet called Burns
Who flipped all the girls hearts with his turns
He enamoured them all, and they pregnant did fall
So Rabbies turns brought on burns
That became a burden to all!

Ah ha! A limerick!
Clever and funny, makes the reader smile and think she might try her hand at limericks.

Rabbie Burns' bairns are legendary as is the man himself. I have fond memories of tramping around Ayr and Ayrshire in the ""footsteps"" of Tam O Shanter. Thank you for a fine poem that was so nearly a contender.

Oh Yes I have to agree it is a fine entry and just short of the standard limerick - with a little re-arrangment you will have it down pat. Thanks for your entry. Von

Many thanks for your entry into the competition.
Your offering is a fine piece of poetry about the Great Rabi Burns but alas does not comply with the limerick format [aabba] although it os very close.
There is just time for a revision if you wish because it is almost there.
Jim
