I heard it's somebody’s birthday
I’m pretty sure I heard right
But I looked and looked all around,
Not a candle in sight
But being the party person I am
And would jump at the least excuse
I got all my pennies together
Still not enough, ‘twas no use
No money for a present for sure
Not even a card or a candy bar
Can’t disappoint the birthday person
I know, I’ll make him a star
So bring on the paparazzi
Call all the TV stations, too
Let’s all sing Happy Birthday
And have a toast or two
For birthdays just can’t be missed
It would make somebody sad
And if we celebrate with one too many
At least we’ll make SOMEBODY glad

I'm sure you made somebody happy. The message is really thoughtful of you. I hope to be that 'somebody' a week from today... hint, hint..lol. Congratulations on the gold.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

Ya know, Leo, a little birdie told me that your birthday is a week from today. Oh wait, it was you who told me that...Lol. We must both be the same age now, huh... 29... again.
Thank you for the sweet comment on the birthday poem. There's no November B'days in the group so had to do something for the contest. Never dreamed it would win a trophy, though.
See ya on your birthday

Dee

Well sure, leave us in suspense. Who's the critter that's having the birthday...besides me I mean? I think Winkles the turkey's birthday is tomorrow but alas I'll be celebrating his birthday alone, well, he'll be there, just , he won't know it..."Eewww Yem that's disgusting, you're sick!" That's what Mariza says when I say stuff like that.
I want to be a partner in crime, no wait, I'm a one man crime....
So? Is this one of those, "If the shoe fits wear it, or does a specific person exist to fit this poem? Inquiring minds want to know.

A one man crime... now that's a fitting nickname for you, Yem
Actually I bet you'd fit right into this fun group... let me know if you're really interested, I might be able to squeeze in a good word for you... or maybe a 'bad' one would work better
This poem is an entry for our monthly group birthday contest in which we write a poem for November birthday members, but since we don't have any in November so far, it's a sort of generic birthday poem.
Anyhow, thank you for the cool comment. I always look forward to yours

Your sort of, maybe Auntie Dee
