Look at me standing here
Thinking about you
I look at you standing there
Thinking about her
Wonder why I even try
You obviously don't want me
You want her
And you can have her
Easy as that
Of course you don't know it
But you can
It probably won't last
But at least you will have her for a while
You two are perfect for each other
You two are friends
You two are looking at each other
You two don't notice me looking and thinking about you
I know you will get together
Someday you will
And I'll be left here
Alone
I'm asking just this once
Look or think about me
But that is too much to ask
To ask you to notice me
I'm here
I'm nice
I'm your friend
Why won't you like me?
Why won't you look at me?
Why won't you think about me?
Maybe because I'm ugly
Or not popular
Or not thin
But it can't be because I don't notice you
I guess I can't compete with her
Can't compete with her beauty
Or smile
Or laugh
Or the way you look at her
I guess I can't compete with her
I guess you don't look at me
I guess you don't think about me
I guess you don't like me

You’ve got a whole poem here about why some people miss out on what they want. They think “There’s no way so I won’t even try”. I know sometimes they’re right but surely not all the time. Thank you for entering my contest.

Loving someone from afar is a painful thing to do…and what’s even worse is that we know that this person loves someone else…thank you for sharing a heart wrenching poem…
