Once there were three ducks sitting in a small pond.

Once there were three ducks sitting in a small pond.

One duck said “quack.”
The other duck said “quack quack.”
And the other duck said “quack quack quack.”

This went on for several minutes.

The first duck thought about his position for a little while.
Then he said “quack quack.”

The two other ducks were surprised that the first duck had changed his position.

The second duck and the third duck stared at each other
as they tried to absorb what the first duck had to say.

The three ducks sat in the pond for a few minutes
listening to the wind rustling through the trees in the forest nearby.

After a while the second duck said “quack quack”
and the third duck said “quack quack”
and then the first duck said “quack quack.”

For the first time in a long time the three ducks were all in agreement.
They went back and forth in this way for a few minutes:
“quack quack”
“quack quack”
“quack quack”

It was nice to have finally found a common language.

The three ducks agreed that they were tired of talking about postmodernism.
They agreed that postmodernism was sometimes intriguing
but they also agreed that postmodernism had become a big cliché.

Eventually the three ducks decided that they could all agree on certain things
but that they could also disagree about certain other things.

This conversation eventually led to the historic duck treaty of 2007.

The ducks agreed that modernity was sometimes a good thing
but they also agreed that tradition was sometimes a good thing, too.

Before they parted ways
the three ducks stared at each other
one last time:

One duck said “quack.”
The other duck said “quack quack.”
And the other duck said “quack quack quack.”

Once there were three ducks sitting in a small pond.
