Summer's glow is turning cold
like death's early arrival
as days and night's of bleakness comes
before Springs dazzling revival.
Beneath the lamplight glimmering
watching leaves like snowflakes fall
life stripped bare and lonely
in response to autumn's call.
In friendless steps the leaves beneath
are crushed underfoot to dust
back to the earth they do return
for seasons' renewal they're a must.
Lamplight becomes a beam of hope
this demise is not forever
when Spring arrives to claim new life
a cycle never severed.
