Life's Riches

Missing image
He embodies a host of life's riches,
his greetings are hearty and hale;
he teaches his art with a big, open heart,
and he radiates warmth on grand scale.

He gives selfless hours of devotion
to the Winklings, and poets galore;
he inspires us so much, with professional touch,
our language's depths, to explore.

He's impeccably kind and considerate,
and never makes anyone sad;
yet he's honest enough, without being gruff,
to tell us what's good and what's bad.

He ought to be hailed as our hero,
for all the good that he does;
he encourages those who attempt to compose
a 'poem to set poets abuzz'.

So cheers to our dear leader, Lyndon,
all hail, Sir, you make us so proud;
with membership strong, and the need to belong,
you're loved by an appreciative crowd!

Bravo!

    Hurrah!

    That is all true, and how well you say it! Lyndon is talented, well-read, erudite, and more than that, humble and kind in expressing it. I enjoyed your rhymes, especially the third lines, very clever.
    Congratulations on your other trophies, and good luck!

    I have not seen this until now!

    So I thought .... until I scrolled down. Again, knowing you better, how wonderful of you to write so genuinely and sweetly for little old me.
    This must come so close to gold ... but it is right out of my hands 'cos I'm biassed, if honoured.
    I feel more guilty than ever for ever keeping your lovely head awake!
    Louise, I accept in humility all that you have written so brilliantly and well.

    Yes. ;)

    This is a wonderful poem. I think Anna was right in choosing it for that Gold up there.

    A terrific tribute to a friend, well at home in this contest and enjoyed by us both.
    We hope you will be joining us in the grand finale, which should prove to be of a very high standard from those poems I have seen already.
    Thanks a lot for your entry and congratulations on the HM

    Three cheers!

    This is wonderful verse, and so true of Lyndon. He deserves three cheers at least for the influence he gently exerts to bring the Winklings together.
    Congratulations for the gold, well done!

    I write free verse as you know

    but when I read yours, my cheeks are a-glow.
    It must be the flow or the fact you're not slow
    but your lines set my juices all a-flow!
    [And I am seventy!]
    Lou, thank you. We must meet some day (I mean, on earth!!)

    A most poetical tribute ...

    ... and while I am not currently a Winkling I think that you have captured the essence of Lyndon and his magnetic personality ... the way he attracts those that are earnest with wanting to share and learn. Nice gift! joy
