somewhere in a distant memory
there is a little place by the sea
and i know i will never see it again
so i ask this if this is the end
help me to recall the place
that i spent countless days
lying in the sand watching the waves
as the sun went down for the day
the mountains in the distance
i always wanted to climb back then
and the little house there on the cliff
where that boy used to live
next to the lighthouse
that when the sun went down
used to call my daddy home to me
when there was no way for his ship to see
the trees swaying in the wind, blowing through my hair
the water licking my feet
the salty air so sweet
feeling the sand between my toes
so soft and warm, back then i'd know
that i woudld not return to this spot
and so i learned at all costs
the way the colors in the sky
blended with lights reflecting in my eyes
and that the setting sun was picture perfect
and this wondeful place i had never heard of
was so colorful, so vibrant
that sometimes i felt such excitement
but now it's all a distant memory
that utopia by the sea
