Soldiers Wife

Though the miles are long
and the nights are lonely
the sun refuses to rise
I can feel you hold me.

Though the people call for freedom
and they march here and there
when they do not know the price
I feel that you are near me.

Though the conversations short
and the desires are very strong
we hold steady to our love
I hear you whisper to me.

Though the news will only criticizes
and show nothing good and true
they have the freedom to speak
I can hear your heart.

Though everyone that can protest
and knows not what the distance feels
we are steady as a mountain
I know that you are right.

Thought all seems difficult
and depression rains in
it is a job worth doing
I am a Soldiers Wife.

Author notes

My husband recently deployed on nov 6th.I know the poem is very jumpy and it is meant to be that way to express the feelings a wife has when a husband is gone. Nothing makes sense yet at the same time it does. Weird huh.

Being a wife of an ex MP I know the lonelyness and fear you are going through. This is a very heartfelt poem and only a soldiers wife can understand what you are going through. Best wishes and hang in there!!

    Thanks for entering

this is absolutely beautiful, everthing about it is. yes i agree it is alittle jumpy but it totally makes i work and makes you feel the pain of him being gone, or the feeling of it.
I also liked that other poem you submitted but i think you replaced it with this one, i was going to comment on it but accidently hit a button then when i went back to it was gone and this one was there, so hmm, oh well. They both are amazing and i really hope he comes back safe and sound, im sure he will thank you so much for entering my contest

Your poem is filled with love and emotion... thoughts that tumble out and are written down brilliantly for the reader to admire. There is nothing quite like being a soldier's wife. Unless you have done it, you just don't know. I admire you.

    BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is beautifully written, i agree...
and i know how you feel...
and the news only does critize...

though im not married, i know the longingness war brings, but as my dad says
    "Freedom is NOT free"
and i salute your husband in being so brave to stand up and fight, unlike those antiwar people who only critize brave men and women like him, but don't have the guts to stand up and fight themselves....
Tell your husband he is very appreciated for his work he does to keep this country safe....
