chilled azure; bound
by Winter's icy caress~
I find myself utterly
captivated; intertwined
in a wintry menagerie~
Crystalline dancers glide
about; carried aloft,
amidst eminent peaks~
Behold its beauty, emblazoned
upon wafts of frigid breath;
ne'er to extinguish~

I loved this too. Winter is my favourite time of the year. If I had my way, it would be winter all the year round, haha
I found this breathtaking. You imagery again, is something that stood out for me in this.
I was transported into this piece. I could feel the snow, feel the coldness breath in the crisp fresh air. Ahh, wonderful writing my friend.

Thank you for so many gracious comments, Wayne.
I love scenes like this. The snow drifts tend to remind me of crystalline dancers gliding along the peaks, especially those of Mt. Ranier in my home state of Washington. I saw that you're from Great Britain. I visited Portsmouth in 1989 while I was in the Navy. I loved that visit.

Impressive work...
Great imagery & wordplay/choice/use wrapped in a calming narrative that made for a compelling read & enthralled throughout...
Keep up the good work...
Well done!!!

Thanks again, Fritz.
I really enjoyed writing this one. So much of my poetry is about nature, which I really love to write. I really like to write this way, and sometimes I write the polar opposite with darker imagery, depending on the genre I'm exploring. I can relate a lot to what you wrote about your own writing on your page.

I love the verbiage, one of my favorite images you chose to use, extinguish which I closely associate with fire and the ice theme, that was a really neat motif and it made this piece very nice.

beautiful and serene winterland. your words expressed are fanatastic and leave a chill of excitement. I love the snow, having lived in CO for half my life and more. awesome write.

Thank you kindly.
Colorado sure does get a lot of snow, huh? My dad grew up in Minnesota, so I'm sure this was a pretty common sight for him to see. I live in Washington State, and we don't get nearly as much snow, but Mt. Ranier sure does look like what's in this photo. In this poem, I enjoyed writing about the snow drifts. I described them as the "crystalline dancers."

you are welcome. yes it does. you live in the rainy state, or at least I hear. I bet Mt. Rainer is gorgeous and breathtaking in person.

smiling....
Yeah, Washington State is definitely known for its rain. When I was a kid, I saw somebody with a t-shirt that said "We don't tan in Seattle; we rust." That's so true. I feel my bolts rusting already.
Mt. Ranier is very breathtaking. I imagine the Colorado Rockies are, too.

Lol, I like that saying. It's like here, the saying goes, 'If you dnt like the weather, just wait five minutes.'
They are most definitely that. -
-
smiling....
I'll take that saying over the rain any day.

LOL, ok, I will switch you, I love the rain.

Beautiful. I could feel the chill, and see the mountains as I read. Wonderfully done.

Thanks again for your kind words.
That photo reminds me so much of Mt. Ranier in Washington State. This is my favorite winter poem that I've done so far.

I love the beauty winter expresses even living in the Midwest. You have painted its palatte in vibrant hues in the warmth of hearts. we just had almost 5 inches of snow on Wednesday tho newscasters were claiming we'd only get about 1 or so. many blessings always xxx

Thank you so much.
I really loved writing this poem. I have such a deep appreciation for nature. Half of my poems are written about nature's treasures.

-
You should write a book, really. This collection is so beautiful.

You are so sweet.
Thank you!!! I don't think I could get a kinder compliment than that. I would love to publish a book of poetry. I've written more nature poetry than anything, but I'm starting to branch out, and learn different genres. Sooner or later, I hope to publish some of my cartoons. I've been cartooning since I was 10, although not professionally.....yet. I think it would be just a huge thrill to see a cartoon of mine get published in the New Yorker. When I get a scanner, I will probably add some cartoons to my humor poetry. My friends and family who have seen me draw cartoons for most of my life say that I am in the wrong line of work. My 10 year old son is a born writer and cartoonist. His work just amazes me. I want to share something he wrote when he was 9, as a matter of fact.

The scene is captivating,
but your words are entrancing.
I can't say that I would look
at this picture and find
the enchantment that you found.
You have the heart and the visionof a true poet.
This is exquisite!

Thank you, David!
Your comments are always so thoughtful. There's such a majestic quality to the mountainside in the photo. In Washington State, where I live, we have some similar scenery on Mt. Ranier. It's truly breathtaking.

Chilled azure - I really like that, it's so simple, but works really well
Icy caress too - nice oxymoron.
Winter is exceptionally captivating. Well I suppose all seasons are!
Crystalline - love that word, and coupled with dancers glide it's just...perfect.
Well..excellent, it's all I can say
Well..beautiful as well
Take care x

Thank you very much.
This just makes me smile to read. I do love those adjectives. Sometimes, I might rely on a little too heavily on them, I think. Your kind comments are appreciated a great deal. I'm so new to writing poetry, really. I started writing a little under a year ago.

Thank you, Jeff.
I almost used a photo of Mt. Ranier for this poem. I sure do love to look at such a majestic mountain. It is so easy to appreciate nature for all its splendor.
