unrequited love
is like a wound unhealed--
a return touches
with unbearable pain,
while continued absence
leaves a silent scar.
both of these
last eternally.

Short and intense--masterfully told in your verses. I love it. This is definitely capturing a sense of something I was looking for.Welcome to the finalist list and good luck in the contest. -
Unfortunately that is very true. There is no half way to that feeling, and what hurts most is that we don't really ask for it, just happens...

Things are the way we see them, and I have felt this way; your expression is excellent. Now I have a different perspective and metaphor: unrequited love is a closed door, which opens on a brick wall.
Life goes on. Best of luck with this!
