Our chance to be together
is rapidly passing us by.
Why we're letting slide,
is beyond my comprehension,
but life has that way
of interfering
with the sweetest of dreams....
and casting a shroud
over loving hopes.
But if you don't mind,
I'll hold onto mine.
I'll take them out lovingly
when I need to smile,
regretfully
caressing them as
l wonder
what you're doing,
how you are,
who you love.
And I will dream
of what we once were ....
... and had ...
and wonder
if you're dreaming too....
Malnourished hearts
die a quiet death ...
...leaving nothing but thoughts...
of what might have been~
