St. Johns County Line

My dark blonde hair flyin' in the wind
Lookin' at you and smilin'
Knowin best friends we'd be till the end
Holding hands, wondering where to begin

So we settled for a spot, right off the beach
Where we talked and dreamed about the stars within our reach
And little did we know that our time would be brief
So we stole those stars like a raging theif.

CHORUS:

And there we sat, laughing at the time
Never stopping to realize just what we might find
Singing and laughing, listening to the tide
memories etched, on that St. Johns County Line

You took those stars, that we so happily stole
And you placed them in my eyes, since leaving me whole
You took hold of my hand and hold of my heart
You helped me through all those times that were hard

Well, we rolled with the punches, figurin' out wrong from right
We dove to the depths and came out through the light
And through all of the fuss and through all of the fight
We came together through it all and rode off in the night.

CHORUS:

And there we sat, laughing at the time
Never stopping to realize just what we might find
Singing and laughing, listening to the tide
memories etched, on that St. Johns County Line

(slow music)

Well, time tends to steal nothing but itself...
and the next thing you know
your life's on a shelf

it wraps you in bankets with memories near...

oh I remember....

CHORUS: (slow)

How there we sat, laughing at the time
Never stopping to realize just what we might find
Singing and laughing, listening to the tide
memories etched, on that St. Johns County Line

Ohhhh.... I remember....

Author notes

Well, I wrote this about my best friend Justin Johnson who passed away in January. I'm not really sure that I like the turn out of this song because it wasn't what I had invsioned.

Thanks so much for reading though

I like this one - some really good thoughts and lines . . . and sections there, particularly the verses right after the chorus. Trying to think of the words fitting with some music. Yep, I like this one.
