Faces that have no voice
endure eternal suffering.
An aggregate of 16,000
souls hidden from
the light of day.
Reality's face has
darkened our world.
Unknown and unable
to help themselves
or even ask for help.
War's survivor
is peace's casualty.
Torture and self-mutilation
rampage here.
Bound and ignored
unfed and unclothed
vile conditions,
affection and hope
are not rations.
Care-takers become
unchallenged tormentors.
Whose shame?
Silent tears cannot be heard.
Stifled screams spiral into
hell's oblivion.
How can we look on and just
be on-lookers and not activists?
All of this in the midst
of a "civilized world"
Where are the champions
for the innocents?
Is there a god who cares?
Makes me question
"Is there?"
Author notes
This write is about the Serbian orphans who are kept in vile conditions

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Behind closed doors the vulnerable
lay bound to iron bars
in fetid cribs beyond the reach
of sunshine, moon and stars.
~
These childrens rights are null and void
they seldom leave their bed
no voice to sing them lullabye's
their legacy of dread.
~
Some hurt themselves with self abuse
for lack of loving care
but most just lay there motionless
blankly in a stare.
~
No social stimulation
for the children of the lost
no gentle hand to cuddle them
these orphan's pay such cost.
~
To know nobody wants you
to never leave your bed
to eat, to dream and weep
until they find you dead.
~
To never learn to walk
or even see a toy
to never learn to talk
devoid of any joy.
~
Behind closed doors in Serbia
the angels hear the cry
the children of the lost lay bound
and no one questions why

This piece seems to questionable to be firm. I feel your voice is firm but failing in parts, if that makes sense? Other than that, the wording and images reflected are strong.

-
Its simple, its straight and it hurts ...
-
Shout it out and I will twin your words, these troubles pain me, helpless but to spread word by write we can stand united and be that voice - become heard for their sakes! Now! Peace.

Very powerful words
and equally important
message..it is difficult
at best to understand
the world we live in...
and you express yourself
very well with many provoking
statements and questions.
Moving!!

A thousand places a million faces all looking for that helping hand Sadly the hand holds the gun or the neck of the grain sack tight. There is no end because few care once the TV is switched off A fine write Excellent

This is a tragedy that promotes no money for the american media so they do not give a shit...if it was about oil and land there would be politicians crawling all over one another to get the story first. This verse breaks my already cracked heart...this is a human tragedy of epic proportion. I have the same question in my mind as you do my sister...how could there be a higher power looking down on this type of misery and doing nothing? Thanks for sharing!!!
Love You~
Suz
