I think of you as outback wind,
mate moving mist
through mesmurizing grassland,
come to breathe my voice,
as mountain.
I am fountain
sipping rougher rock
in craggy catching,
across my distant ache for music,
so you might sing a kindred calling,
weathered wrist
in sweat-stained, song,
humming stroke to fascinated fingers,
as syllabic salute to brother down under.
You sound my rooftop peaks
in billowed strings,
her higher bar
to ring in saturated syllable,
joyful jousts of competitive cohesions,
through foreign waves
of surrounding circle,
sound hole rolling, koa strumming,
when sky rehearses yet another sending,
of western sun to find your morning.

Excellent poem ...
although I had to reread it four times to really get it all. In any case, congrats on the Silver.

I admire the way that metaphor seems to be your second nature - the movement of wind through the mountains is a lovely image for friendship in poetry.
Congratulations, lovely work.

Dear Rich
Thank you for this poem. I shall, with your permission, put it into my Birthday Folder. I had 40 guests at my party. Each one brought a poem and read it. The poems are well displayed and I would love to add yours! Ron.

Oh boy! You are film star material, mate! Crikey!!! -
What a wonderful tribute to a great poet and someone you call a friend...I know that he will adore this...
Another beautiful write and the pic is perfect

This is a beautiful tribute to our friend Ron from the other side of the world. I liked the way you used the weather (wind and sun) going around the globe, taking along musical sounds, as if you were singing a birthday song for him. I guess I am exagerating now... Must be my imagination! Hahahaha I also like your picture (I recognized you, as well from the drawing I had seen earlier as by your poetry style). Very well done!
Anna.
