Porcine Lament!

You have me in your sandwiches,
laced with onions, sometimes pickled.
When alive, I'm cute and cuddly
and your sense of humour's tickled.

At breakfast I'm delicious,
with poached eggs and deep fried bread.
but you're such a flipping hypocrite;
you even love me when I'm dead.

You say you love my little trotters
and my snuffling sweet pink snout.
But you still relish me at supper time;
with a pint of frothy stout.

You say you love my curly tail
and my little 'squinty' eyes.
Why can't you be a vegetarian
and stop your stupid lies?

    D'aww...

    Very well written, and certainly reminiscent of Silverstein.

    Actually, this fits my contest quite well. This is just the sort of "lament" I've seen in his children's books, minus some of the advanced vocabulary (which does not count against you, by the way ). Sometimes his humor was a little twisted, but that's why he was so well-loved. Your meter and rhyme are excellent, and this is a highly enjoyable, humorous piece. Thanks so much for entering my contest!
