Climbing steep slopes til the ground plateaus.
Removing the first brick from that wall
Which towers over your soul.
Breaking through the pain.
Easing into life.
Reprogramming your mind
to accept the challenges before you.
Taking that first step,
and the many that will proceed.
Traveling silently.
Embrace.
Succeed.
Author notes
I met the bravest girl in the world the other day.
Newly diagnosed as diabetic and pretty needle phobic, for the first time she decided to attempt her own insulin injection. She didn't make it this time, but my word did she try. She touched her skin with the needle, and although could not manage it this time I know she will get there... I was so damn proud of her that night

....baby steps eh? I'm always in awe of people who can overcome these things, I guess it's in all of us somewhere
Lovely, simple, eloquent, enlightening - it's nice to be back heheh -
An excellent portrayal of overcoming a fear we all have a some stage, especially young ones.
You put it in a classic way that reads well.
I appreciate the style you used, and the feeling it gives off. Well done.

A poem offering quiet reflection on the essence of being human and sharing an affliction intrinsic to our species (fear) and overcoming the obstacles life has to offer..
