**I Forgot My Wish, but...**
Standing in line, for hours it seems, I anticipate my turn, to tell him my dreams. Little Elve's accompany him, being very polite, passing out candy canes, to every kid in sight. The Christmas Tree all lit up, with lights twinkling, and the many ornaments on it are gleaming. "When will it be my turn." I asked my Mom, as I tug on her skirt, sucking my thumb. "Soon my Dear, you will see, just a few more people, only three." One by one the end of the line nears, then it will be my turn, to see him this year. A little boy passes by me saying, "He won't bring no toys he is lying." I begin to worry is this true, But my Mom said real quick, "He will too." "You see little child, you just have to believe, and please don't ruin it for the naive. " The Parent's child gave her a wink, and off they went with out a blink. Then Santa said, "Hop on up in my lap Dear, let's see what you want for Christmas this year." I was shocked, I had not been paying attention. My mind was wandering, with all the apprehension. So I went on over to him and he put me on his lap, as he was doing so I accidentally knocked off his cap. "Oops!", I said and told him, "I am sorry." He replied, "It's o.k. Dear, don't worry." He looked at me, with a twinkle in his eye, And said, "What is your wish, for Christmas is nigh." I said to him, "I forgot what I was going to say, so I guess for everyone to be happy on Christmas Day." He said to me, " But you got to a least want one thing for your self." "What I really want is for everyone to believe in you and your Elves." "O.K. Child if that's your wish, I will try and bring this to you, but I surely will leave a special gift under your tree too." http://allpoetry.com/poem/3614532 © Cara L. Greenlee, All rights reserved
