Nativity

Now laying on her bed of straw
And safe from Herod’s awful threat
The angels bow in rev’rent awe
In wait of He that pays the debt
Virgin conception without flaw
Innocence no one will forget
Timeless gift of love and healing
Yoked with God; this Christmas feeling

Well, I like it, and it's very nice to read, but the lines are all eight syllables, and your explanation says it needs ten or eleven Lovely, either way.

    This is lovely

This is so brilliantly executed! You have inspired me to have a try at this. The message is simple and beautiful, a message so often forgotten these days of the commercial Christmas.

Best wishes for success in the competition

    Awesome!

When i think i have seen everything, you manage to again me with your poetic talent.

Your are AP's "Queen of Form"

However you manage to not only write and Acrostic, which I love, but you also used a form that I have not heard of [Ottava Rima].
I must add this form to my form poetry notes You know I love form poetry as well, so I'm still in aw over this piece.

    Briliant piece my sweet soul,
    Many blessings,
    Much love,

    David

I was on here earlier as I clicked next poem and had forgotten to click Submit Comment, and when I tried to stop the page from loading my computer hung up/crashed and I got caught betweem two pages. Anyway... This is a wonderfully sentimental poem for the Christmas season! The TRUE meaning of the holiday! I do like the Acrostic Style added to the Ottava Rima. Everthing all blends seamlessly into one beautiful X-Mas gift...

The Nativity is a Heavenly sight to behold. As much as I am a catholic, I have always had one thing I questioned and that is accepting "The Immaculate Conception". I remember questioning this in Sunday school and the nuns could not come up with an answer for me. Instead they scowled, yelled a little and told me I was to believe it if I am to be a good catholic. To this day I still wonder why they couldn't answer it. You have painted a beautiful picture in this "Nativity" and to use the ottava rima with the acrostic is absolutely magnificent. Thank you for sharing the gift of your golden pen once again. It is a masterpiece. Best wishes in the contest. Love you my friend, Joyce
