Why do I still cry

Why do I still cry,
While you never shed a tear?
Why do I still dream of you,
And want you to be near?
I loved you O, so deeply,
I thought you loved me too.
You told me pretty lies,
I believed them to be true.
Maybe you really were in love,
And I suppose you could have been.
At least you showed it at the time,
But something changed within.
Now I hold your memory,
In my heart forevermore.
I will always hope for promises,
You promised me before.
I still have those dozen roses,
You brought me that spring day.
Sometimes I wonder why I keep them,
When our love you threw away.
Often do I ask myself,
Though I doubt I’ll ever know,
Why I’m still holding on to you,
When it was you who let me go.

Emotional, to be sure, especially knowing the history behind it. I like the meter, and your rhyme is pretty smooth the whole way through. Keep up yo' writing, Frog Child!
