The fear of being left behind
As power surged through your legs
Strengthened by my steadfast grip
The reins engulfed by my hands
Your neck strong and arched
Jolting my body
With each stride
As you freely move through the dirt
My muscles relax
Deep breaths
Filled with the icy weather
Fuel my lungs
My heart soars
As I move with
The true essence of
Horse Power
Your gallop
Immaculate

While there are some things about your poem that I'm not a fan of...there's so much I love about it at the same time. The descriptions are wonderful and vivid, and the subject is unique and creative for entries in the contest. Starting each line with a capped letter and then not using any punctuation makes this a little harder to read, but I do take personal style into account, and that may be yours. My main issue with the poem is that I wish it were longer! I think for anyone who has been on a horse, this will definitely touch something in them with wonderful memories.

Thank you so much for your entry, and good luck in the contest.

    Best wishes,
    ~J.

Oh wow! I love this! I have ridden most of my life ( as soon as I was able to sit up without help) and your words are so... vivid.

Oh how I miss it! Makes me want to go hit the trails tomorrow!

Thank you for the comment, I know that riding for those who have experienced the power of a horse provides emotions and feelings that can never be replaced. I exercise racehorses and the feeling of letting a wild at heart animal run like the wind is one that I will never forget. The first horse I ever galloped is the inspiration for this poem. I am very glad you enjoyed it!!!
