Would a flower ever bloom?
Unless she knew
The sun desired to see her smile
And the raindrops to kiss her face.
Facing her head heavenwards
She opens her petals
to the beauty of expectation.
She's bathed in the warmth of affirmation
And showered in the rain's admiration.
In the darkness
A caterpillar, all alone
Endures the pain of transformation
In a silken tomb.
Persistently pushing through
The butterfly emerges
To the beauty of expectation.
The wind wraps her in a flighty hug
And carries her over the ground she once crawled.
Would the leaves of the trees still dance?
If the breeze didn't sing a song.
Would the stars in the sky still fall?
If no one waited to wish upon them.
And could we take our next breath
If no one needed to hear us breathe.
For the heartbeat of life can be found,
In the beauty of expectation.
Author notes
I wrote this one for someone close to my heart who is so full of potential yet does not meet it, because nothing is expected of them.

Wow Rosh,
Its been a while since I've been refreshed by poetry. Thanks for that. I like the message, the writing was smooth and the transitions were subtle. It was remarkably simple and meaningful.
I hugged my computer screen.
Keep it up.

Absolutely and completely gorgeous. I adore it.

I like this piece
good flowing pen. "the beauty of expectation" we often imagine what things will be before we posses them, and the picture in our minds is usually much prettier than the actually thing.
