Quiet I lay, inside my own head
As allegro sounds surround my bed
I am hurt, alone and afraid
When the accent of an angel begins to play
The crescendo stop the tears mid drift
I listen and my spirits lift
With strings of angel hair and babys breath
She sings adiago to her companion death
The root of the song is born from love
And wings of dolce vita flutter above
Black tears of spirito rise
As chords of gusto open my eyes
Diminuendo, I start to cry
Until the angel shouted 'DE CAPO'
And I come alive
She sings the sweet song, legato to me
Now how could I ever not believe?
Author notes
This is inspired from a Nirvana line 'I cut myself on angels hair and baby's breath. Hope the musical terms are used properly, please let me know if they aren't. I could hear the music. Thank you for this fine contest.

It's been a long time since I read something that made my day like this. I've been thinking lately how I miss my band career and wish I could go back to it.
The musical terms added a lot to this piece and made it exceptional. I think every one can relate to this some how, and I love how it's nonspecific enough to just tick off anyone's memory to something. Now, I know I'll think of this whenever I hear the terminology you used as well as the Nirvana song.
You wrote a beautiful poem and I hope more people enjoy it as much as I do.

You incorporated both the quote the poem was inspired by and the musical terms nicely. This was just amazing!

a grand majesty of beauty for the audience to see what Angel's Hair does in someones honor and dreams.

I love the mixing imagery, and the way this flows, it sings to my mind and I know this comes from your soul. Excellent! Best to you in the contest ~blessings always~

simply beautiful....
I love the arresting imagery in this. I saw how this poem was inspired by a Nirvana song. I wish my brother, Jason, were here. He is a HUGE Nirvana fan. I find this inspiring. I think I might try to write something inspired by Pat Benatar, maybe the songs Shadows of the Night, or Invincible. Speaking of songs, my five year old daughter is just being adorable right now. She has the movie, Spy Kids 3, and she loves to sing with the teen singer, Alexa Vega (who played Carmen in Spy Kids).
Constance has a toy microphone, and it's so cute to watch her go to town to her music videos. I wouldn't be surprised at all if my daughter ends up being a singer. My dad was a country music singer, guitarist, and songwriter when he was alive. I wish my dad was alive to see his granddaughter sing like she does. I'm sure he does anyway, though.

This is amazing, Angel. I love it. The only thing that would make it better is keeping in tune with present and past tense, which seem to mingle throughout the poem, but maybe that adds to the music of the poem.
I just got done singing all of Amazing Grace. I used to sing it to my daughter, but just the first verse, didn't even know the rest, but for some reason she absolutely loved it when I sang it to her. This poem reminds me of that song, it sang to me. Beautiful and best of luck in the contest.
