My Foolishness

Love
The very mention of the word sends tingles up my spine
It makes me remember back to better days
Of springtime and happiness
Of love unbound, wild, and free
When I was unashamed to say those three, fateful words ‘I love you’
How I wish I could go back
I’d never have to say ‘goodbye’
It never would’ve ended
We never would’ve cried
It would’ve been better, some days, if we’d never ended it
But they think otherwise
Then again, who are they to control us? Who do they think they are?
They are not important in the big picture
I feel so ashamed
I’m to blame
Will you forgive my foolishness?
Or am I to die of pain.

    Good

This poem is well written and presents an original viewpoint of a woman's evaluation of herself and her life as she interprets it. The emotion and imagery are perfect. I felt the words as well as read them and they are powerful, Great Job!
