I cannot find the beat, love
In tempo; rhythmed pace
To ride the loving wave
The rise to skin of face
A heart beats alone.
While the tempo of our hearts
Play themes that drift apart
Arpeggiated love, like ours
Has no internal rhymes
The elongated hours
Fall in and out of time
My heart beats alone.
While the tempo of our hearts
Play themes that drift apart
Meet me back in harmony
Rediscover Rome's
Eternal dolce vita
The gentle lilting tones
Your heart beats alone.
While the tempo of our hearts
Play themes that drift apart
Yet drumming here within my chest
In deafening accord
Ascending to a final note
Held ever to reward
These heartbeats atone.
And play themes that we begun
Alone, but now as one
Author notes
Tried not to use too much 'listing' and a few more general 'sound and music' words eg. ride (cymbals), time, beats etc. And 'musical' punctuation of the heart beats.
Well I hope it works.

It works. I think you need to plan it out more being as it is not something you usually do, according to your author notes anyway. I like some of the expressions.
