This contest's going to make me think
My simple rhymes are bound to stink!
I've been accused of wasting ink
HOPE THESE CAPITALS MAKE YOU BLINK!

I can't think of a sensible thing to say
Hope this little "block" soon fades away
So now I'll bid you all good day
Please forgive my lack of muse, I pray.

My rhymes are bound and determined to suck,

but I said "to hell with it, what the f***"

and I am here to learn and play

even though better poets shall slay.

It's a wonderful way to earn lots of points,

but it places a lot of stress on your finger joints.

Your rhyming isn't too bad at all
I'm glad you gave the contest a call.
The more comments the better from you and me
as we eagerly anticipate, the winner to be!

Potanical Ann, I like your verse,
whether it be long or terse.
You write so well, it makes me smile
at the ease and eloquence of your style.
If a trophy you don't receive,
I will be the first to grieve.

The ease and fluency of your rhyme
proves that you're not wasting time.
In the garden of your verse, Potanical,
the flowers you grow are not botanical.
    You grow, instead, odes and sonnets;
    poems adorned with Easter bonnets.
So keep your garden free of weeds
    and cultivate more poetry seeds!

    Cheers,
    Bill

Thank you for writing such eloquent rhyme
      Have you entered this contest?
      If not, that's a crime.
Your words are worthy of a mighty gong
Think about it Bill, don't leave it too long.

    Don't worry potanical poet,
    You'll soon see,
    That rhyming poems,
Are as fun as can be!

    You seem to have,
    The hang of rhyme,
    So sit back, relax,
    And have a good time!

Yes I like to rhyme, that's for sure,
as long as I won't be a bore.
So I'll keep it short and keep it sweet
      and hopefully your attention keep!

Potanical, your the last that I've seen
But, don't take that at a loss
It seems I've found a rockin little poet.
Contrary-wise to you, your rhymes are boss!
And, as for your lack of muse,
I think it's safe to say,
    Competing in Jeff's comment contest
Will melt your black writer's block away!

Will do my best as well you know
so poetic thoughts of mine can flow
Some lines may seem a little lumpy
      so if I don't win, I won't be grumpy!

        If you're like me,
        You'll become quite free.
        Rhymes won't be lumpy
        And you won't be grumpy.

        You'll get to know
        How to make it flow
        You may even borrow rhymes
        Not considered major crimes.

I think that rhyming is an art,
especially when it's from the heart.
So keep on penning at your leisure
to read your comments is such a pleasure.

But try not to get the mumps
You'd lose your energy for rhyme
And all your zest for keeping time.

I had the mumps when I was small
chicken pox, measles, I had them all.
Now when coughs and colds sometimes make me ill
I open a packet and take a pill
              (strictly legal ones of course)
