Visions

Missing image
Eyes wide shut....
The Vision lingers still, in my mind,
of the day that we first met...in my dreams.
Short, Sweet,  and so very beautiful to me,...
eye candy for this man, the kind
of which enflames the sweet tooth within
and sparks desire in man.......
in me.

Sweet, Sweet smile...
the face, the curve of mouth and lips,
soft creamy skin, twinkling stars of eyes
and long dark hair... the face of Helen of Troy,
that face that launched a thousand ships,
the daughter of Zeus and Leda
had met it's match...
in you.

And beyond...
beyond the face that launched a thousand ships,
the figure of the woman that is you,
that God above perfected in you...in
the pleasant curve of breasts and hips....
the shape that sculptors sculpt, painters paint,
and poets write of.

Is it wrong?
Is it wrong to dream of you like this,...
wrong to see these Visions in my mind
when thinking and dreaming of you?
Is it wrong... the desire that builds in me to kiss
those lips...to hold you just once
in sweet embrace....
for real?

For some maybe.....
for some who see what I have seen,
these Visions that fill my thoughts and dreams of you,
such thoughts will be lustful thoughts, alone,
of man and woman.... man intent and keen
on experiencing those aspects of you alone ...
those Visions.

But they see not....
for though they see with their eyes
they are blind..... eyes wide shut and hearts closed
to the true beauty that is you in the
the heart and soul of the woman that lies
within...Therein lies the most beautiful
aspect of you.

So I dream...
for my eyes and heart have seen that which lies within
and therein lies the desire that builds in me,
for the woman that is you...the heart and soul....
that which brings the longing in me to once again
hold you within these arms if naught but in my dreams...
and within them, then, the culmination of all
I have dreamt of you........

Well done will read this again Msotly I would have to be critical of the background perhapos a stronger color for the words would work but I strained
Your poem is good enough to not need a flashy background

This is gorgeous, Evan... The love and tenderness that shone through in your entry are so genuine, something that very few poets can capture nowadays, but you have done it with a high degree of skill. Very well done, and welcome to the finals, my friend!

This is strong. I love the topic and I love the layout. I was enamored with it, and the last line struck me. I did feel a bit like it was a bit too long, I kind of stopped paying attention toward the middle. Maybe cut back, this poem could be even more amazing than it is.

Wow ~ beautifully written ~ the lack of believing in ourselves.... and letting the visions of how others see us.... We are so use to the ugliness in the world that "we" tend to start to believe in it ~ Sad but true... those in which you speak of "Eyes wide shut, heart closed" ~ those how discourage in order to feel better about themselves ~ unconcerned with the footprints they leave on the souls they step on to reach up. ~~ Very well put

Thanks for entering the "set the bar" contest ~ I appreciate you sharing your work with me~ good luck to you

thanks for entering the contest, but you must have missed some of the rules. first it was to keep the material clean, and you must be 16 or under, not feel like your 16 again. This was a lovely piece but does not in anyway fit my contest i'm sorry.

    This is not bad ...

but you have a double word "the" here:

to the true beauty that is you in the
the heart and soul of the woman that lies

I think it could be improved on, but as a love poem, sent to your wife, girlfriend, or some one you greatly admire, it would work well for Feb. 14th, which is fast approaching now.

Thanks for entering and Happy New Year.

I can tell by the way you write, and put so much feeling and thought within your words, that you are actually a very romantic man

Please share some of that aspect with me - lol People tell me I'm disastrous when it comes to being romantic lol

Anyway, I really like this poem. It has this soft and soothing feel to it, and definately radiates a lot of tenderness to the reader. Well done!

LadyNyxx: Thank you for your wonderful comment on this work. If what you write comes from the heart aka "He Loves Me", it can never be a bad write. To quote "Gibran" on poets:

      He is a sower
Who sows the seeds of his heart in the prairies of affection,
And humanity reaps the harvest for her nourishment.

Sow away in what you write, if it comes from the heart, humanity will reap the rewards.

    Very good

This is written by the hand of a man who has felt love, fear, exultation, grief, guilt, pain and dismay sift through his hands like the sands of time. The deep pool of emotion poured forth in this work almost drowns the reader in self contemplation feeling each emotion so skillfully enlisted by the author.
