Sitting next to you in the greenest of grass, legs open in a lazy fashion, toes curled in your socks
Watching you strum your acoustic guitar in your lap, cigarette hanging from your lips, ashes tipping off the end
I close my eyes and let the sun wash over me
We sit against pillars of brick and cement and hope
And I catch glimpses of you when you're not aware
Oh, you are something special
The smoke rings you blow float around my head with such grace
As if they are your love child
This is the first mistake I haven't made
I concentrate on your hands
your skin
your messy authority
That way you try to be stern but I don't give in because the corners of your mouth are
turning up
You fascinate me
Like the faith of a non-believer
To myself I sing a song of redemption
I no longer worry about the future
I could spend forever in this grass
Watching you live
Beside you.

I love this. I love all of it. Again, the imagery is mind blowing. I know it's boyfriend inspired, but it very much makes me think of Jewel. God, I'm so glad you told me about her book, thanks for showing me her stuff, it has opened a whole new world! He sounds like he makes you happy-- even from afar. =]
You win an orange sippy cup, Britney Spears kids, a silver Willow tree, a white kitten, a fairytale story book, $24, a yellow sock, and seven purses. =]
