The Rainbow We Never See

Open the door, step outside
The sunlight is as black as ever
It feels cool to the tongue
Heavy like a gilded pressure

We sit on the curb and swing our legs
high above the ocean that glimmers orange
Talk of days yet to be born
The pink of our eyes twinkle with secrets

The disembodied fingers intertwine
with the words we always forget about
Blue nails down white skin
Hooked on the scars

Let's dream of something right now
Pretend the everyday life
Where perfection is as green as death
The children’s red mouths sing wordlessly

About the Rainbow we never see
Forgetting to hold our white breath at first
The glory of a silver moon’s edge
The sky is really purple at the end
