caramel covered
lips and fingers
printed on his pajamas shirt
pieces of a Sunday breakfast
a chocolate flavoured drop
on the middle of his chin
a sign of sweet treat
escaped from his pancake
through the trees
the first sun rays shine
in his eyes
the colour of a perfect morning

EXCELLENT
Feel like I am there.

Wow, I've got to suspect that time sweetens the flavor of the memories.... First thoughts include dirty laundry and the inquisition as to exactly which piece of living room furniture bears the matching handprints... I guess time makes sticky sweet... I suppose retrospectivity is something to look forward to and all's well that comes out in the laundry. Vivid imagery and touching sentiment.
Rainbows,
~RJ~

There's gold in them thar hills.
Congratulations madam.
Some lovely comments by people here...will miracles never cease.
Now write one about Leander gulping down a big bowl of cheerios.

Lovely! Children live so intensely in the moment, I think they better savor each one, without worrying about what tomorrow may hold. You share the eyes of a parent enjoying the savor with the child more than worrying about cleanup Congrats on the gold! "f

I don't have a child yet and yes, it would be lovely to have one. But still, I can relate to this as the child and how my relationship with my parents changes through the years. All parents share the same fear - the reality of their children growing up. But then, all you can do is cherish the moments like this, the simple pleasure like watching your child's smile in his messy face. Some mothers may not know it, but kids treasure those precious moments too and stays in their mind for always. Thank you for this entry. This made me miss my Mama and Papa.

The colour of a perfect morning... what a most beautiful poem you have written here dear mommer

It's about me! lol
Yes time does fly indeed. He's now 18 and chasing girls, well, one girl. Kids are really selfish, and it's understandable but they just don't understand what parents have been through, the memories. Of course they'll know someday, when their kids act selfish to them.
Ok, you'll call me a name here (and you know the name) but it's sad. Sad in that time passes and with it, that wistful feeling that it can never be that way again. So yes, there is sadness and if you had my massive brain you'd see that too.
I'm ____ now. (you know what goes there.
It's beautiful.
