I watch my baby really close
I have to, you see
Because his Mommy works
And they live with me
I’m the one she trusts
With her heart and soul
To look after her treasure
More precious than gold
My little grandson was
Diagnosed on Valentines Day
You’ve got to be kidding
Its Diabetes they say
Our darling Angel
Can’t carry this pain
But to our hearts despair
Their opinion wouldn’t change
We are coping with a
A toddler not yet two
You try making him eat
When he doesn’t want to
He has to eat his bread
His Mommy says
Or his sugar could drop
Then we’d have a mess
So between me and
His Mommy you see
We try hard to
Fill his tummy
It will get easier
As he grows
But for now we
Stay on our toes
It’s certainly no joke
When he yells out no!
Him being a toddler
Is stressing us so
So I do my best
To care for our boy
I want him to be happy
His days filled with joy
I know that’s possible
If we do things right
And always follow
Gods guiding light
If you could, A
Prayer would be great
Not only for Gage
But all the kids sake
Having Diabetes is
Never a joke
People just have
To learn to cope
One day soon, if
It is Gods will
We’ll have a cure
For all these ills
Deep in my heart
This I do know
There are lots of people
Who love these children so
So thank you for reading
And have a good day
And if you find it in your heart
Please don’t forget to pray

This is such a heartfelt poem. I have a friend Amy who has diabetes, she will be 15 a day after i am. She has a machine that is always atached to her by a needle in her hip. It doesn't hurt very much and gives a warning when her sugar levels are too high or too low so she knows.
This poem was full of feeling and made me feel for Gage. He will have a great life. My prayers go out to him and all like him.
Keep writing,
Holly.

What a sad story! Disease is such a terrible thing, especially when it affects one so young and innocent.
Thank you so much for entering this in my contest, and my prayers are with your family and grandson! -
Alright. Your concept is quite clear, and the appeals you make within your verse obviously sincere. Well done - commendable.
