I'm in the East and
You're in the West,
Everyone trying to decide
for us what is best.
I was placed on a fast track
to try and get a law degree,
You were sent to Hollywood
to find out what you could be.
I was raised in sophistication
while you were just a famer's son,
But when we met years ago at the old cafe
I knew right then and there you were the one.
I couldn't afford to come out there
and you couldn't afford to come here,
In the middle we decided to meet
so your sweet voice I could hear.
Talking and laughing in the sun
You slip something on my hand
A high school ring because right now
you couldn't buy a wedding band.
We decided to go back East
and as we went up the sidewalk
My father told me to go to my room
while he and "Junior" had a little talk.
My mother stepped in, said don't lose your temper
Remember, it wasn't that long ago
My daddy said things about you that weren't true
So just let this young boy go.
We are both in love
and that will always find a way
My mother still looks at my father now
as I look at my husband today.

it seems like a personal poem, no??
Family coud aways e a burden (i should know)
But hey, in the end, they do say that love beats all odds.
Nice job with he poem here. It sounds much like a storyand lacks the poetry feel to it, but i like the fact that it seems so personal
Thank you,
Albasoul
