Confused Emotions

The pain that walks with my shadow
Weighs upon me night and day
Reminding me how fragile I am
My heart told me I shouldn’t stay

Decisions swirl within my head
Thoughts and doubts arise like smoke
Replaying all that has been said
Unveiling all that had been cloaked

Refusing to ignore my goals
Struggling through intense emotions
Learning the hard way just like before
Questioning your said devotions

Now that the haze has lifted
I clearly see all the reasons
You and I were certain to drift
We were swept away like the seasons

Good things come to those who wait
And only fools rush in
I now realize my mistake
And I won’t make it again

Wandering down this winding path
Hearts never lead you astray
Lessons learned and prices paid
I am destined to find my way

Author notes

Yay for another poem. This has to do with a situation I was in. I was quite confused and very emotional. It still affects me too.

What speaks to you?

    certainly yay for another poem!

written with a clear truth... emotions confused with decisions we have to make. sadly, we all have to go through this, and it is so hard when feelings come into play that weren't expected... *sigh*

the first stanza spoke very intensely to me.. sort of like a wake up call... and the last stanza was a strong way to end it.

    thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for your kind words. Decisions are extremely hard for me because I'm indecisive as it is. Glad you could appreciate this poem

Great write. Live and learn. A quote i used recently is from the vampire lestat: we don't change really; we become more fully what we are.
