Concrete Angel

She hides behind a smile
When inside she's crying for help

She knows when she goes home
It'll just be another welt.

She wears those dresses everday
In hopes that they can't see

The real life she lives in
No matter how hard it can be.

The bruises on her shoulder
The scratches on her back

Just another mark
From another bad attack

She tries to tell her momma
But her momma doesn't care

She takes out all her anger
On the girl's flesh she tears

The next day at school
The little girl is gone

Other parents don't know how to say
What exactly went wrong

The girl is so much happier now
She's free from all the pain

The little girl got thorugh it
To the sunshine from the rain

The mother never thought
Her little girl would die

The mother will be punished
While the girl is flying high

All the people ponder
Over the bruises never mentioned

They mourn the loss of a small death
That could have been prevented

Author notes

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride; I love this song...so sad but really has a great meaning. Video also very sad, but happy in the end.

wow. that song is just beautiful, I haven't heard it until now. I love it!
I can definitely see where you got your inspiration from, and that's great. The rythm is perfect, and I got really sad while reading this.
    Good job!
