Overcoming the Obstacles of Racism

What
you see
of me is
so very less
of all that i am
like the floating iceberg
which may not seem so worthy
but below lies more than the seen
a substance so great we must revere
lest by disregard and thus disrespect
we bring shame on self and harmful waste.
Hatred based on superficial stance
robs others of their dignity
hindering their potential
creating the backlash
of uncivil rest
so robbing all
of the good
we could
know.

Get
beyond
the title
on the cover
of each life you see
before critiquing such
for often the cover fails
to quite adequately translate
the true power of the person inside
waiting to expose tremendous blessings
once given the chance to be himself
unleashed from the stereotypes
which implants a  bitterness
from senseless cruelty
unbacked by the facts
prompting history
be written
of sad
shame,

Live and let live!
Give and let give!
Equality for all,
For rich or small--
This is Our Call!

I like this a lot, a very powerful message you have sent through your words. I love the part about everyone's personal "cover" and how not to judge by that cover for it cannot truly translate the person inside. Very well done, I like this a lot Thanks for sharing and I wish you the best in this contest
