My Prayers Have Been Answered

My prayers have been answered
Is a common expression
When we pray to God
Asking for something.
People are eager to quote Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Many people have the mistaken belief
That this is a way to get God to give us what we want.
But as we delight ourselves in the Lord
This promise is conditional
He will change our desires and give us His desires,
We often pray an argument with God,
Trying to convince God we have it right,
That we know the way to go,
Trying to talk God into giving our plan a divine blessing
Is to manipulate God in our prayers
That we have some hidden formula
So we can boss God around
We don't like to be submissive
To anybody or anything, including God.
We want to be independent, in charge, and in command.
We must remember God is in charge;
Not us.
It takes the realization
That God knows what's best for us better than we do.

    Very poignantly put.

Right one ... If only all the world could, would want to live this way. What a gracious world it would be, God owned and forever free.

    Bravo friend.

Peace carry you always, and freedom greet you every morn.

    God bless you.

    So true this is

As though everything is preset at birth often we fall and become lost unsure of life itself but to reach out and know the true meaning of life and love the world is yours forever

    A powerful write

Very true. HalleluYah!!! This is the first poem I've read in A.P that has this good perception about us to God ever. I like the sincerity of this poem, and the fact that you focused on conveying this divine message than merely focusing on the shape or rhyme or flow, for that matter, of the poem. Thanks so much for sharing this poem. I hope that people can realise that God is the superior being and in order for us to get what we desire from Him, we must do first as He desires...HalleluYah...Yah chai...Shalom Shalom

This is true. I subconsciously find myself asking God to help in hopes his answer will be what I perceived in my mind. He answers subtly and sometimes it's hard to see.
    Great poem!

I think you're sending a neccessary message here. We have to remember the place that God sets for us is at the proper place at his table.

This poem is definately a thinker. It took me about three reads to take it all in.But I do like it. Its true how modern day society is just ignoring God and thinking they can run their lives the way THEY want. But the last four lines are probably my favourite.
    We must remember God is in charge;
    Not us.
    It takes the realization
That God knows what's best for us better than we do.
It speaks of such truth. I love the simplicity of the message, yet its very unfront and eye opening. thank you

Not every one knows that when God is silent he is not ignoring you, it might just not be the right time for that prayer to be answered God most propbely is just still busy molding us before he answers us. Im glad your prayer was anws....... this is a stunning piece

There is such truth in this! Its true we tend to try to make God see our wants but sometimes the answers are no. Hard to swallow but true.
I do belive that it is a conditional promise.
Thats the problem most dont delight in Him as we should i am guily of that.
I also belive we can't rush God He's in control of his sheep and He is a great shepard but we sometime get impatient when He knows whats best for our lives.
Reminds me of when God told Moses to stike the stone i think it was twice and moses struck it three times ..nothing happened did it! Untill mose did exactley what he was told.
    interesting read ver thought provoking.
    Great job!

For some it takes a lifetime, and others learn quickly, of how God views things, in giving us what we want.If we trust Him..His timing and His choice will be right...Appreciate this refreshing inspirational full of wisdom, and the trust and respect that our God who is often forgotten in our many writes deserves....Thanks Jeff,,,,incomparable write!
