Her love was a holiday from life
rising soft music
and falling amber light
beneath soft forming clouds and mists
seen in her dark wide eyes.
There even dimlit corners
had smiling replies,
she was safe and secure,
able to love freely.
She made a bridge of affection,
a strong rope of caring
gave all that she might,
making an alluring prospect
in the end, love was not enough
to undo clashing sanctuaries.
He would be a free man,
unaccountable to another heart
forgetting how loneliness shrunk his world,
dimmed its aspect.
His sanctuary was aloof resistance,
but he'd be nothing without her pursuit;
she would be empty without her dreams.

This is lovely. It made me smile, and that is always a wonderful thing for a piece of writing to cause. Thank you for that, and for the entry.

You showed a lot of insight into human nature, some men do hate being tangled up, don't they? I thought there was no word out of place, it was quite good.

I agree how profound these words are indeed,
the imagery here is thick and filled with emotion,
well done you have tugged my strings.

How profound these words,as they seem so applicable to a situation I know."She made a bridge of affection a strong rope of caring gall that she might, naking an alluring prospect in the end, love was not enough to undo clashing sanctuaries." Profoundly real in word and reality. Wonderfully chosen words for some real
situations.Excellently written!

lovely and sad
this is amazing
She made a bridge of affection, a strong rope of caring
gave all that she might, making an alluring prospect
in the end, love was not enough to undo clashing sanctuaries
as is the sorrow of the ending
beautiful take on the prompt, good luck in this contest.
