When I was a baby
My parents were told
That I would be blind and never walk
I am blessed for a blessing did unfold.
I am thankful for God
Who one smiled upon
And gave to me
The ability to walk and see.
I am thankful for the friends
Who helped me through despair
Always letting me know they care
And that they'd always be right there.
I am thankful to God
For these gifts He's given me
All that play a special part
To unlock the door of my heart.
I am thankful to you
For giving me your heart
Another gift sent from above
Was the promise of forever love.
I thank God once more
For this heart of mine so pure
A gift for using these words of mine
And somehow manage to make them rhyme.

This poem is factual but not all that good because I've entered it into a couple of contests and haven't won any trophies for it yet, so I apologize for entering a bad poem.

very well done!! my daughter was suppose to be born with many birth defects and it was recommended that we abort.. we didn't and she wasn't born with half the things they thought she would...and for that I thank God everyday and when she is old enough I will teach her to give thanks as well!! Very beautiful piece you have penned here!!

wow, this poem is touching. isnt it awesome, how miracles happen? my mother had me when she was 38 and the doctors told her id have down syndrome and she should abort me. i was born perfectly normal and actually im one of the best writers in my english class. anyway...more about the poem..i think it was well written. i love your rhymes--theyre different!!! overall, it was a lovely poem!!!!

Well, I am nowhere near a Christian or follower of any other religion for that matter, but this poem is great.
