of darkened gloom
wailing infants are heard.
Nine months tenure
in comfort and peace,
compared to the eternity
of death.
Lost in the maze of despair,
without even a fragment of choice,
cast into darkness,
with raw emotion never heard.
A chance to thrive in life
ignored instead for turmoil.
Of no want of their own
they are cut off from the world
of their parents,
and forgotten
counted as no one.
So they weep,
at the error
of erasing their future,
and chucking them
as garbage,
without even a tombstone.

A very emotion packed verse...written I believe from your soul. I love the background you chose with this write it does certainly add to the impact of your words.
I have grandchildren and I adore them more than life itself. I was able to only have one birth child and it is amazing to me that so many babies are created so easily and unwanted and discarded.
I stay out of the politics of it all...but suffice it to say that if I were able to...I would save them all and place them with families who are starving for a precious little child to love and adore.
Life is cruel and unfair on so many levels.
Your work here is very commendable.Blessings~

Good Write
Despite me being as pro-choice as one can be, it was an interesting write that I enjoyed. The only problem I really have are these lines
"Lost in the maze of despair,
without even a fragment of choice,
cast into darkness,
with raw emotion never heard."
which don't flow at all. It might just be me, however. -
well done
I am pro-choice but this poem paints a distressing picture and really makes me think. A couple of suggestions: change the title to "Erasing their future" and do something at the beginning to make it more clear that the poem is about abortion. I didn't get it in the first reading.

This is so very sad. It took me a moment to realize this is about abortion, something I am very much against, more so since a student in my persuasive speaking class gave a lecture for abortion siting the number of dead babies a 'form of population control' she persuaded me alright, but not for her side of the matter. This is fantastic, the last few lines are crushing. I love this peice.

I thing the line "without even a fragment of choice" is the key here. An excellent point.

You threw this up on featured and I had to read it due to the title. I believe like you and almost lost my first daughter to that fate. We are odd as creatures and you make me think about that. I am going to do something that I hardly ever do because I find it a little unethical. I am going to throw you a link in my comment. If that offends you, do not go there. If it doesn't shoot me back a reply. You are a wonderful, and heart feeling author that deserves to be heard not only hear, but everywhere. I am out of happy clappy men so all you can have is that I wish I had written your piece. That is really the greatest hono you can receive. http://allpoetry.com/poem/3019082

an emotive topic, handled with emotion, a whitewash, with no allowances for circumstances, troubling.
-
I'm glad to see this kind of poem, I've always been against abortion; it's murder. It's too bad some people can't see the plain truth, despite what the circumstances might be.

-
wow. this is very good. Abortion is wrong!!!! I don't care what anyone says, you're killing a baby when you get abortion. this is very true... very sad and heartfelt... Great work!!! keep it up!

Good
Your simplest words can carry the most weight when you make the reader feel them and not just hear them and you do this well. You have managed to capture a human experience filled with emotions and weave them into a poem that is expressive and poetically meaningful.

Wow. This was a powerful write. A great pro-life poem, one of the better ones I've read. The image in the end is so powerful, and this is such a sad write. This is deeply moving - I love it and I hope many people are touched by it.
