In the darkness of day, the shadows of night
Thinking to myself - knowing I'm not right
Minutes like seconds pass me by as I think
I have just cut myself - Had some vodka to drink
It burns my throat - and my arm is sore
But still I cut and still I pour
And through the day and all through the night
I search and search but there is no light
And I try and I try but there's just no hope
I simply can't do it - I really can't cope
But if you were here and by my side
Then I wouldn't be like this and wouldn't have cried
I think I would smile and hold you near
Because the bottom line is that I wish you were here
Who knows maybe someday we will be together
And maybe we can last forever and ever
But I have my doubts as to if we will ever be
Because though I love you - Do you really love me?

I loved the opening - contradictory images of harmony. The futility of it all is enchanting. The message stays consistant throughout - simple and clean. Even when speaking of better things, the mood stayed dark. It rather reminded me of Nightmare Before Christmas - in a good way.
