its a tad bit sad, but also reassuring, at least for me. sure, we may not be able to save the world, "save" everyone or maybe even anyone, but there are still lots of people to love and be loved by, and to some extent we're only as happy as we choose to be.
anyway, neat quote, thought provoking. you're very wise for a 19 year old. (sorry, i couldn't resist. i only say that because i'm younger than you.
