Just Up and Listen

Please close your mouth
and open up your ears
and listen to the words
I'm dying for you to hear

Listen to the sounds around you
Listen to the noise
Listen to the waves of the ocean
and the ripples in the sea

Make time to smell the roses
and listen to the bees
A soft hum and a low tone
is a worldly type of sound

Can you hear the wind
as it cries in the depths of night
can you hear the screams it begs of you
of freedom to be a live

Can you hear the sounds of people all around you
begging for some help
a little life is all they need
but society is mean

Shut Up and listen
to the world around you
can you here what I hear

It's the sound of ignorance
and the sound of cruelty

Hate, despair
words of pain

Children of the world crying out
hoping that mommy comes back that night

Cab you hear the sound of a person needing love
or are your ears blocked with the tissue of bliss

Can we all live simple lives
no problems no errors
no depths of life

Take some time to hear
all the noise around you
listen to just one person
crying to be heard

Make the connection
make it today
Do your self the one favor
and shut up and listen

Please tell me what you think

Wow Hope, great poem. People are often so narrow-minded, wrapped up in their own problems and lifes, thinking that their life is so hard, but they never stop to think of what they have. How much worse off others can be, and how if they could just listen, they could help. I like how you pointed out that not only should you stop and thing of those who have it worse, but not to forget the little things in life, that would bring a smile to a childs face, such as smelling a rose, but when you're so wrapped up and rushing, you forget that it can make you smile too.
Great poem, very inspirational, reminding people to set their priorites.
    Lots o' Love,
