Mercy

Self forgiveness lay
buried beneath an avalanche
of blundering boulders,

freezing thoughts to
'what if' memories

unchangeable.

Frost bites cheeks
in crystallized streams spilled
from swelling glaciers

and hope,
falls victim to dehydration.

Taking pity,
silence speaks wisdom
to once deaf ears;

apparition's grace rises
with promises

of anew,

and from nature's clutches
evolution takes hold,
sparing mortality to teach

lessons learned.

Renewal is the word that comes to mind after reading this. It's refreshing and thoughtful. Well deserving of the shiny bling

  • I am completely stunned. The talent and wisdom I see flying from these pages, well, I guess it's best I stick close to the ground for now. Really WOWED!

    ya All~Ways,
    ~ Jan ~

  • This is really good. I've thought of these things before, but have never quite been able to put them into words as skillfully as you have here. I'm not surprised you won the gold. Great poem! Keep up the good work.

The first three lines of this poem struck a chord with with me, Belle. Self forgiveness will carry us to the true meaning and compassion of forgiveness towards others.

Nothing past can be changed, but we forge ahead with resolution once we free ourselves from the grasp of those deeds which haunt us.
And congratulations on the Gold for this one, it's a much deserved award

This has a wide range of possibilities. I like its rebirth / self awareness and sense of enlightenment through - nonreligious - grace of silence.

    well done!
